Last month in Rome, Mr. Augusto Mensi, Chief Executive Officer of Lucchini RS and Lucchini Industries, signed the first contract for the supply of wheels to Ady, the railway company player of Azerbaigian.
With 9.8 million inhabitants with an average age of 31 years, a GDP of 41 billion dollars and a GDP per capita of just under 18 thousand euros, Azerbaijan bases its development on the extraction of Oil and Gas , as well as iron, copper and lead, and on infrastructure thanks to plan of important investements.
In particular, the contract concerns above all the first step for the relationship between Lucchini RS Group and the government of Baku, and it’s destinated to expand further in the future.
The supply contract in detail.
The agreement, signed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Italian capital, let Ady receive spare parts for its trains: over 700 wheels and about 50 wheelsets will be part of a maintenance project planned by the Azeri railways, focusing on passenger trains of the Kiss series produced by the Stadler Group.
According to Mr. Augusto Mensi, this agreement is “a great result” for Lucchini RS Group.
The chairman of the Azerbaijani railways, Mr Javid Gurbanov, agrees with him and “hopes is just the beginning of this important relationship“.
At the same time, the Azerbaijani President Mr. Ilham Aliyev met the Italian President of the Republic, Mr. Sergio Mattarella and the Italian President of the Senate, Mrs. Elisabetta Casellati.
These meetings took place during the Business Forum, the appointment that tries to increase the political and economic relations in the framework of the TAP (Trans Adriatic Pipeline) energy project, which will be finalized during this year.
